All listed providers have been vetted and approved by Quitwise as a compliant, reputable and bulk-billed telehealth service for smoking and nicotine cessation, including prescriptions for TGA-notified nicotine vaping products.
A telehealth consultation is just like a regular consultation, although it’s via the phone. This way you can skip the waiting rooms and get on with your day, while still receiving the same level of care as you would in-person.
Initial nicotine prescription consultations via the above providers are bulk-billed through Medicare, making them free of out-of-pocket costs for eligible patients.
The initial consultation results in a personalised treatment plan, and if appropriate, a nicotine vape prescription.
Follow-up consultations are also available to provide additional support, repeat prescriptions, and the opportunity to adjust treatment plans if needed. These may or may not be bulk-billed – please discuss with your consulting clinician.
Your initial consultation will take no more than 20 minutes, where you will discuss your smoking (or vaping) history with your consulting clinician and establish a personalised treatment plan aimed to get you to sustained nicotine abstinence.
Follow-up consultations will usually take no more than 10 minutes.
All consulting clinicians on the above services are AHPRA-registered Australian healthcare professionals and are TGA-authorised prescribers of nicotine, including vaping prescriptions.
If your consulting clinician deems you eligible for a prescription, you’ll receive a digital version of this as a QR code via SMS as soon as they have finished reviewing your consultation notes.
Here’s an example of what your digital prescription will look like:
Simply take your phone with your prescription QR code into your local pharmacy, or if you’d prefer, you can print this and bring it with you.
Show the prescription QR code to your pharmacist and they will process this for you right away and help you get started.
Your eligibility for a prescription is determined by your consulting clinician.
They’ll discuss your smoking/vaping and quitting history with you during the consultation to work out what’s best for you.
